MARION SCHLARB

Marion J. Schlarb, age 84, a resident of the Wisteria Haus, 2741-45th St., Two Rivers, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, July 8, 2004, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, following a brief illness with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, July 12, 2004, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish, Holy Redeemer Site, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William G. O'Brien with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.

She was born Marion J. Lodel on Nov. 11, 1919, in the town of Carlton, Kewaunee County, to the late Frank and Albina Albrecht Lodel. She attended Wayside school, where she completed her eighth grade education. She then moved to Sheboygan to live with her aunt and uncle, Louis and Aileen Albrecht, and attended Sheboygan Central High School, where she graduated with the class of 1937. This wonderful family touched her heart in so many ways. She appreciated their love and kind deeds and enjoyed helping them with childcare and household duties. Marion was employed in Milwaukee for a short time and later employed with Mirro Aluminum. On Aug. 25, 1945, she married John R. Schlarb at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. He preceded her in death Feb. 2, 1998. Marion enjoyed her friends and neighbors, and her favors and help were always much appreciated. She was a longtime member of the Ladies of Holy Redeemer and active with the Manitowoc Ostomy Club. She enjoyed baking, canning, entertaining and sharing her wonderful meals. She will be truly missed.

She is survived by two daughters: Jane (Dennis) Nork, Milwaukee; Donna Schlarb and Leon Cathey, Santa Rosa, Calif.; three sons: Earl (Irma) Schlarb, Huntsville, Ala.; Robert (Mary Beth) Schlarb, Oconomowoc; and John Schlarb, Jr. Manitowoc; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is further survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, which include Norbert (Lorry) Schlarb, Milwaukee; James (Travis) Schlarb, Wales, Wis.; Ruth Johnson, Florida; Agnes Lodel, Manitowoc; and Leni Schlarpp, Hamburg, Germany; and her special friend and co-worker, Betty Huss; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Lodel, and a sister, Llyone Melnarik.

Friends may call at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Holy Redeemer Site, Two Rivers, after 9:30 a.m. on Monday until the time of Mass at noon. There will be no Sunday evening visitation.
