Herbert B. Ahlswede, 71, of 5504 Wagon Wheel Rd., died unexpectedly early Friday morning, Feb. 21, at his residence. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Monday at First Baptist Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Bruce Huffer will officiate and burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth.
Mr. Ahlswede was born Sept. 14, 1914 at Manitowoc, son of the late Benjamin and Rose Rohrbach Ahlswede. He attended schools in the Rockwood area. He married Arlene Hougen, Nov. 28, 1942, at Manitowoc. The couple farmed here all their lives. Mr. Ahlswede was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Ahlswede of Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth Ann and Curt Riebe of Manitowoc and Janet and Peter Larsen of Manitowoc; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Pearl Ahlswede of Manitowoc; three grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral home, Manitowoc, 5 pm to 9 pm Sunday and from 9 am to 11 am Monday at the Funeral Home and then from noon until the time of services at the church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or donor's choice.
