He was commissioned an Officer in the USAF in 1963 and assigned in Manpower, retiring in 1975 at the rank of Major with 26 years of service.
Following his military retirement he taught in business undergraduate and graduate university programs, and worked in various positions with US Government contracts.
He was a man of principle and integrity. For over 40 years he was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Galilei-George Washington Lodge No. 810A, Kaiserslautern, Germany.
He and Gale were married 47 years, they married on August 12, 1966 at Langley AFB, Virginia. They had two daughters, Ann and Ellen.
Bill had a brilliant mind and a lifelong quest for learning. He spoke fluent German and could communicate in French, Italian, and Spanish speaking countries. With their daughters, Bill and Gale spent many years living in and traveling around Europe.
For 25 years he attended Father Dyer United Methodist Church in Breckenridge, Colorado. His hobbies were traveling, hunting, fishing, skiing, crossword puzzles, reading history, playing bridge and many games, and debating around the dinner table.
He loved living in Summit County Colorado and their Frisco mountain home, fires in the fireplace, outdoor grilling, his hot tub, and fellowship with his hunting buddies of the Lone Pine Hunt Club in Scottville, Michigan.
Bill especially loved and valued his family and many friends.
He died in Colorado Springs, Colorado on 22 Sep 2013, three days after his 79th birthday.
