Born January 22, 1947, in Pacolet, he was the son of Solomon and Nina (Hudgins) O'Steen of Pacolet.
A graduate of Spartanburg Methodist College with a Criminal Justice degree, he was a retired Detective with the Spartanburg Department of Public Safety. He was also a sales associate at Wallace White Pontiac Buick in Gaffney. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, the SC Law Enforcement Officers Association (SCLEOA), and a U.S. Navy Veteran.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Helen Elizabeth (Beth) Hunt OSteen; a daughter, Dianna Elizabeth OSteen Phillips and her husband Jason of Pauline; and a brother, Mark R. OSteen and his wife Robin S. of Spartanburg.
Visitation was held 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2006, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
Funeral services followed at 3:00 p.m. at the chapel, conducted by Rev. Raymond A. Hellings and Rev. Peter Spink. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 4426, Spartanburg, SC 29305; or to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 500 Oak Grove Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
