Born at Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana and baptized at Plaza Church, Los Angeles California, Maria de los Angeles Eustaquia was the daughter of Leoandro Joseph Serrano (1785-1852) and Josefa Montalvan. She was the third of at least six daughters born to this couple. Her father had been married previously to Maria de la Presentacion Yorba producing four sons and one daughter, all half siblings to Eustaquia.
Eustaquia married Juan Nicolas Ontiveros in about 1858. During the next 20 years the couple had nine children, 4 boys and 5 girls.
Having lived her entire adult life in the Santa Barbara County area, Eustaquia was given a Christian burial in Santa Maria Cemetery by Fr M Lynch [San Ramon Chapel Pioneers, Page 73; Erlinda Pertusi Ontiveros]
