The Funeral for Cyrus R. Burns, of Fairfax, a retired state highway engineer and member of senior citizen organizations, will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.
Burns died Sunday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness, He was 82.
He was born in Spokane, WA; and lived in eastern Washington and western Idaho until he moved to California 45 years ago. His father and other members of the family were engineers in railroad construction. Burns learned his profession on the job rather than in colleges.
He moved to Marin county 30 years ago, and retired in 1962.
He was a member of the California State Employees Association, the Marin Senior Association and the Goldenaires.
He is survived by his wife, Emma L. Burns of the home; 3 sons, Phillip and Leonard Burns of Fairfax and Sidney Burns of Cupertino; 4 daughters, Lea Dent of Eugene, OR; Ruth Williams and Iris Joseph of Santa Barbara and Roberta Rice of Arcadia; a sister, Katherine Hanford of Spokane; 12 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
Burial will be in Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
