John Barnes Pittman

There is widespread misinformation about the identity of this John Pittman's parents. In the absence of direct documentary proof, researchers concluded that he was a son of Newitt and Susanna Pittman. This is not correct. Several years ago I found document that proves that the mother of this John Pittman was Amy Bullock Pittman who died in McNairy County TN. Further research proves that the husband of Amy was Noah Pittman. Noah died at a relatively young age, and after his death his widow Amy and some of his children moved from Robeson County NC to McNairy County TN. Noah and Amy's son John married Susanna Ward and migrated to Marion County MS quite a few years before the other family members moved to Tennessee.
