JOHN NELSON OBITUARY
1915 - 2006 SOMERSWORTH - John August Nelson, 91, of Maple Street Ext., husband of Agnes H. Nelson, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover following a brief illness.
He was the son of John A. and Caroline (Weeden) Nelson. He was born in Conimicut (now Warwick), RI on August 10, 1915 and was the youngest of 13 children.

He attended Warwick schools and graduated from Warwick HS. As a young man, he worked with his Dad building homes in and around Warwick, and in later years was self employed as a home builder. He married his first wife Beatrice M. in 1934 and they were married for 56 years. In the late 50's he and Bea and their two sons moved to St. Johnsbury, VT. He bought a dairy farm in VT and remained there until his retirement in the mid 1970s. Upon retiring, he moved to Dover where he was very active in St. John's United Methodist Church. In 1991, he married Agnes Vincent Heon and resided in Dover and Durham moving to Somersworth in 2004. He was an avid stamp collector having collected stamps for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Great Bay Stamp Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose #443 in Dover. In his later years, he enjoyed making jigsaw puzzles, solving word puzzles and playing cards. He also enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his pal, Allie.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes, his two sons John A. of NH and Dr. James and his wife Dr. Sharon Nelson of Washington Crossings, PA; his three step children, Janet and her husband Roger Gagne, and Richard Heon and his wife Tammy all of Somersworth, and Celeste and her husband Guy Riendeau of Colebrook, NH, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grand children, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his 12 brothers and sisters, his first wife Beatrice and his great granddaughter Kelsey E. Gagne.

A memorial service will be held at St. John's United Methodist Church, 28 Cataract Avenue in Dover, NH at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2006. Burial will be at Mt. Cavalry Cemetery in Somersworth at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in his name to The Sunday School Program, C/O St. John's United Methodist Church, 28 Cataract Ave., Dover, NH 03820
