Fort Gratiot Township- Edison James Kerr, 86, died Friday, Aug. 16, 1991, in Port Huron Hospital.
He was born Aug. 9, 1905, in Melvin and had been a lifelong area resident until moving to Port Huron five years ago. He married Thelma M. Dimick Oct. 26, 1927, in Port Huron.
Mr. Kerr owned and operated the Kerr Grain and Hay Co. At Melvin, which was founded by his father. He retired when the company was destroyed by fire in 1977. He was president of the National Hay Association in 1959 to 1960 and was active in the village of Melvin and school affairs throughout his business career. He was a member of the North Street United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; two sons and daughter-in-law, Max E. and Margaret Kerr of Port Huron and Richard R. and Sharon Kerr of Longview, Texas; a son Donald E. Kerr of Port Huron; a daughter, Patricia A. Fletcher of Sebastian, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Tychoson and his brother, Harold Kerr.
Services are 11 am Tuesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth B. Ray of North Street United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visiting is 7 to 9 pm today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Monday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are William Heim, Michael Reilly, Richard Howard and Leroy and Robert Dimick.
Memorials may be made to the North Street United Methodist Church Building Fund.
