He was the son of Orlan Elsworth and Irma Thompson Bare.
On May 28, 1930 as Lieut. G.H. Bare, he married Calesta James at Dona Ana, New Mexico.
They were the parents of three children including William Orlan Bare who was "Missing in Action," July 29, 1967 and in August 1979, reclassified "Killed in Action."
On January 17, 1970 as George H. Bare, age 71, he married Mildred F. Mittendorf, age 71, at Hamilton County, Ohio. She died on August 6, 1984 at Hamilton County, Ohio.

Miss James Married In Las Cruces
Becomes Bride of Lt. Bare at Ceremony Las Cruces NM
The wedding of Miss Calesta James and Lieut. George H. Bare was solemnized Wednesday evening in St. James Episcopal Church at Mesilla Park. Rev. Hunter Lewis read the double ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her mother, Mrs. W.F. James. The bride wore a gown of ivory satin made in princess style. A triple strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom, was her only ornament. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley. Mrs. A.L. Walker, sister of the bride, was matron of. The bridesmaids were Miss Ernestine McIntosh, niece of the bride and Miss Elizabeth Bare, sister of the bridegroom. Bare was attended by his brother, Edward K. Bare of Denver, as best man and his brother, Daniel E. Bare of Denver. A reception for the immediate families and a few friends was held immediately after the ceremony at the home of the bride's mother. After the reception Mr. and Mrs. Bare left for Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, where Lieut. Bare Is assigned to assist in ROTC training at Camp Stanley until the middle of July. They will then motor up the Pacific coast, returning to Las Cruces by September 1, where they will make their home. Mrs. Bare is the younger daughter of Mrs. W.F. James and has lived in Las Cruces for the past six years. Lieut. Bare was graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point In 1920 and the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia in 1921 and is First Lieutenant of Infantry DOL at State College. He came to State College three years ago as Assistant Instructor in Military Science. Before being assigned to State College he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, where he was attached to the 9th Infantry.
