John Neil Bradley


Bountiful - John Neil Bradley, age 77, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 29, 1998.

Neil was born in Shelley, Idaho on April 5, 1920 to Amos Melvin Bradley and Hazel McGary Bradley. Neil attended schools in Shelley, Idaho. he serviced a mission in the East Central States. He married Edythe Yancey in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 6, 1943.

Neil served in the US Navy aboard a mine sweeper during World War II. He was a building contractor in Idaho Falls. He and his family were called to new Zealand in 1956 to 1959 to help build the New Zealand LDS Temple and college. From 1961 to 1964 he worked for the LDS Church in England and Europe building chapels. In 1965 he began work for the LDS Church in the Real Estate Division until he retired in 1985. He and his wife served in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Neil loved the church and served whenever and where ever he was called, including Bishop of the Idaho Falls Sixth Ward, and in the Bishopric of the Bountiful Hills Ward.

Survived by his wife, Edythe; and children, Joan Simpson (DJ), Idaho Falls; Pat Barton (Bruce), Layton; Reed Bradley (Julia), Centerville; Mark Bradley (Jean), Bountiful; Todd Bradley (Stacy), Salt Lake City; 33 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He had a love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and for all they accomplished. Also survived by sisters and brothers, Blanche Walker (Horace), Nampa, Idaho; Newell Bradley (Marvel), Shelley, Idaho; Alice John, Soda Springs, Idaho; Ruth Patterson (William), Marysville, California; Dal Bradley (Helen), Burley, Idaho; and Karen Little (John), Kennewick, Washington. Preceded in death by three children, Preston, Kristen, and Thomas, and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 2, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful Canyon Park Ward, 1190 East Bountiful Hills Drive. Friends may call Sunday, February 1, 1998 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Monday from 9:45 -10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
