Mr. Barnett was a native of Leake County and had been a longtime resident of Rankin County. He was an Army veteran and was a member of the Wahabi Heavyweight Motor Corp. He had retired from Miller Transporters after 28 years of service and later owned and operated Barnett Bros. Trucking.
Mr. Barnett enjoyed cutting and baling hay on his family farm in Renfroe and loved his grandchildren and family very much.
Survivors include: wife, Mary Nell Barnett of Pearl; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Jeff Files of Madison; and grandchildren, Jeffery Files Jr. and Mary Catherine Files of Madison. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna Clare Files in 1998.
