Henry Remi Boncquet was born on September 14, 1921, to Silvere and Marie (Van Hove) Boncquet. He was born on the farm in Grandview Township and grew up in the Ghent area and attended school at St. Joseph Catholic School in Marshall. Hank was united in marriage to Marie DeBaere on April 16, 1947. The couple raised their family and farmed in the Ghent area. Marie died in 1967. In 1968, Hank was united in marriage to Elaine (Duthoy) DeSutter. Hank worked as a custodian for eleven years at the St. Eloi Catholic School and Church. He also did custodial work for various businesses. Hank was a very hard worker. He took pride in his work and was known for a job done well. He enjoyed the Belgian game of Rolle Bolle and the card games of Bein and 31. He also enjoyed bull-head fishing. Hank was a long-time member of St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent and the Senior Center in Ghent.

He died on Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall.

Hank is survived by his wife Elaine of Ghent, children Virginia (Jim) Madigan of Columbia, MO, Carol VanOverbeke of Alexandria, Kathleen (Gary) Janssen of Oxford, OH, Janet (Merv) Windey of Marshall, step-children Connie (Victor) Erlacher of Arlington, SD, Andrea Smith of Marshall and Mary (Peter) Kurr of Ghent, grandchildren Tina Workman, Curtis and Craig Lycke, Jodi Cordes, Mandi VanOverbeke, Ezra Janssen, Leah Janssen, Austin Windey, Adam Windey, Greg Erlacher, Vicki Erlacher, Carolyn Wallace, Neal DePestel, Luke DePestel, DeeAnn DePestel, 11 great-grandchildren, siblings Madeline Timmerman, Agnes De Meyer and Dennis Boncquet, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Marie, and one sister, Anna Feryn.
