She lived in West Virginia until she met and married her husband, Richard Eugene Headington, on July 16, 1945. Mr. and Mrs. Headington then moved to Clare, Mich., and lived there for 65 years. Mr. Headington died in 2000. In 2011 she moved to Gladstone, Mich., to be closer to her family.
She passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 15, 2014, in Rapid City, Mich.
She worked several years at Thompson Foley Jewelry Store in Mount Pleasant, Mich., and Hicks Jewelry Store of Clare, Mich. She loved to do flea markets, knit, crochet, put together puzzles, and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Her last two years were spent attending any and all events that she could for her great-grandchildren. She loved to cheer them on and show her pride at all of their accomplishments. She was definitely their biggest fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard and son Richard, who died at birth in 1951; brothers Donald, Arvel, Clifford, and Alpha Daniel "Alphie" Harvey; sisters Elsie Claris Harvey Brandon and Myrtle "Mertie" Harvey Adkins.
Survivors include her son, Gary (Fran Murphy) Headington; granddaughter Lori (Paul) Shope; grandson Rich (Rose Nadeau) Headington; and her five great-grand children, Kayla, Matt and Kelsey Shope and Dillon and Derek Headington, all of Rapid River, Mich.; brother, Lloyd Harvey of Nimitz, Summers County, W.Va., along with many nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral arrangements are by Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home of Farwell, Mich., and private services will be held at a later date in Clare, Mich.
Burial will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery, Cedar Street, Clare, Mich.
