James "Kimo" Alani Kamekona, 66, of Las Vegas, passed away June 14, 2014. He was born Aug. 18, 1947, in Honolulu, to Willard Kamekona and Amoe Eva Kamekona (nee Wong). James was the youngest of 16 children.

As a 32-year resident of Las Vegas, James was a Hawaiian music entertainer known to perform at local Hawaiian parties, reunions and other events. He was also an avid sports fan.

James is survived by his children, Jim of Santa Clarita, Calif., Jesse (Gabrielle) of Long Beach, Calif., Peter, Krystal (Michael), and Kris of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren, Jaemi, Sean, Kristina, Diego, Isaiah, KaRon and Isabel; and sisters, Stella, Elizabeth and Margaret. He was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.
