Betty was born September 3, 1933 in Louisiana, the daughter of Richard Harold and Beulah Florence Kemry Strange. She married James Carroll Hearn on July 2, 1949 in Pocahontas, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on December 8, 2010.
Survivors include, son, James D. Hearn and wife Anita of Bowling Green; daughters Linda McCollum and husband Dave of Curryville, Carol Glascock of Columbia, Janet Lucas and husband Darrell of Bowling Green, Shari Beth Niemeyer and husband Earl of Bowling Green and Christy Lewis and husband Michael of Wellsville; grandchildren Clint W. Glascock, Keriann Sheffield, Lance McCollum, Jeff McCollum, Stephanie Gregory, Angela Kattenbraker, Travis Hearn, Jennifer Morris, Cody Hearn, Josh Lewis, Justin Lewis, E.J. Lucas, Dawn Smith, Ashlee Lucas, Lindsey Lucas, Ryan Niemeyer, Scott C. Niemeyer, Elizabeth Niemeyer and Reed Niemeyer; great grandchildren Danielle Lucas, Baileigh Lucas, Gage Smith, Brendenn Smith, Max Lucas, Keeleigh Lucas, Colton Hearn, Allie Hearn, Kacey McCollum, Emma McCollum, Jackson Gregory, Landon Gregory, Brynn Gregory, Jate McCollum, Luke Sheffield, Ella and Brady Morris, Adalynn and Jayten Edmund, Brooklyn and Sam Kattenbraker and Lydia Jane Lewis. Also surviving are brothers Richard Harold Strange from Laddonia and Macky Lee Strange of Oklahoma City, OK. Preceding her in death were her parents and sister Sharon Kay Strange.
Mrs. Hearn was a member of the Second Baptist Church where she was a part of the Womens Missionary Union. She had belonged to Excelsior Community Club and enjoyed collecting Cherished Teddybears. She had been a volunteer with OATS and the Bowling Green Library and had worked for the Pike County YMCA, Missouri Extension, Hays Century 21 and with the Ruth Jensen Village as a house sponsor. Mrs. Hearn was a very giving person, always looking to help people. She loved her family especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were grandsons Clint W. Glascock, Lance McCollum, Jeff McCollum, Travis Hearn, Cody Hearn, Josh Lewis, Justin Lewis, E.J. Lucas, Ryan Niemeyer, Scott C. Niemeyer and Reed Niemeyer. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Keriann Sheffield, Stephanie Gregory, Angela Kattenbraker, Elizabeth Niemeyer, Dawn Smith, Ashlee Lucas, Lindsey Lucas and Jennifer Morris.
