George Allen Sr was born in May 1774 in Orange County, North Carolina, and he was the son of Abraham Allen Sr (1750–1825) and Elizabeth (Kendrick) Allen (1750–1820).


He was married on December 27, 1794 in Orange County to Elizabeth Blackwood (1776–1838), the daughter of William Blackwood (1747–1830) and Margaret (King) Blackwood (1755–1829).


George was 72 years old when he passed away on April 15, 1847 in Montgomery County, Tennessee and was buried in Allendale Cemetery, and although his grave is unmarked, his name and dates are included in a long memorial marker that included the names and dates of all seven known burials in this cemetery.
