Irene (nee Crocker) Apgar, 90, of Staffordville, born Dec. 27, 1923 in Newark, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Harold "Joe" Apgar in 1993.

Irene is survived by her 5 D's, Denise O'Connell of West Creek, Dennis "Butch" Apgar of Rockledge, Florida, Deborah (Apgar) Hoffman of Cape Canaveral, Florida, Douglas Apgar and Dane Apgar, both of Parkertown; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Irene was lovingly known as "Go-Go" to all. She retired from Stafford Elementary School as a secretary for 25 years. She then worked at the Island Dress Shop in Brant Beach, and in later years in the cafeteria at Eagleswood Elementary School. Her love for animals propelled her to donate her time caring for her furry friends at the Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter in Manahawkin.

Go-Go enjoyed bowling, bingo and especially her fun casino trips. She devoted her life to her family and friends and she dearly enjoyed watching her grand babies grow up with all their many memorable life moments. Arrangements were private.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ocean County Cremation Service, Forked River.
