Ralph Wesley Miles (6/29/39-5/5/13)

Ralph Wesley Miles, died, as he wished, at his home in Bakersfield at 9:48pm. He is preceded by his mother Mary Catherine Gross Miles and his father Ralph William Miles of Mansfield Ohio. Survived by wife of almost 41years, Geraldine, son Greg, ( wife Leigh, twins Graham and Scott of Vancouver, BC), son Andrew, ( wife Ruth, son Joel, daughters Kayla and Ava of Bakersfield), and daughter Katie, (husband Jon, sons Pete Jon and Jon Daniel of Bakersfield). Ralph grew up in Mansfield Ohio and attended the University of Ohio in Athens. He served his country as military intelligence in the army and was stationed in Chicago Il. After being discharged from the army his career path took him to Canada, Seattle, and for the last 30 years here in California. Ralph took his job on the road when the kids were out of the house and he and Geraldine got to travel to far flung counties where they worked and played. As a result of his long illness he definitely missed his somewhat erratic golf game but he was happy to continue playing bridge and other card games with friends when he could. He battled Multiple System Atrophy for the last 6 years of his life with courage and a dry sense of humor. He will be sorely missed by family and friends. A man of the world, but also a man of the people. Ralph saw others as individuals and judged them accordingly. Heart was his criteria for success. A good man going quietly into the night.
