Roy Gene Granderson, 82, a resident of Rison, died Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Born May 8, 1932, in Rison, he was a son of Orville and Helen Herrington Granderson. His mother died shortly after his birth and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Bessie and Jess Pierson.
Mr. Granderson was reared and received his early education in Rison. He married Annie Broach Doss on August 13, 1971, in Kedron, Arkansas. He worked as an auto parts man for Spurlock for the majority of his life.
Mr. Granderson was a member of Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Rison. He loved his church and his church family. He had a life-long love for automobiles. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Granderson was a jokester and the more he joked with you the better he liked you.
Mr. Granderson was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Helen Herrington Granderson, Bessie and Jess Pierson; three sons, Kevin Granderson, Larry"Bo" and Ray Doss; two daughters, Chrissy Granderson, and Jodie Matheson; five brothers,Troy,his twin, Bert, Otis, Jim, and Jack Granderson; two sisters, Onie Huntley, Dorothy Gill; three cousins with whom he was raised and were like sisters; Juanita Selby, Maxine Hollis, and Jessie Dean Holmes.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Granderson of Rison; three sons and daughters-in-law, Clark and Karen Granderson of Morriston, Florida, Jimmy and Dell Doss of Pine Bluff, and Johnny and Lori Doss of Pine Bluff; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Scott Robbins of Pine Bluff, and Bobbie and Rick Werner of Redfield; one daughter, Shirley Murray of Star City; twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, and eight great great-grandchildren.
