Mrs. Catharine Bacon, widow of Oliver Bacon Sr., died last Friday o the old Oliver Bacon homestead in Delmar Township at the age of 92 years. Her maiden name was Houghton. She was born in Otsego County, New York. As the age of 12 years, she came to Delmar with her parents, and when she was 18 she married Oliver Bacon Sr. Of her eleven children, seven are still living. Her husband died in 1882 and after that time she resided with her son, Oliver Bacon Jr. on the old farm which she had seen in its various stages of improvement during nearly 75 years. Mrs. Bacon was a vigorous woman in mind and body. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Wellsboro, PA for many years and her life was true to her profession of faith. As a friend and neighbor, she was always highly respected. The funeral was held Monday afternoon (burial location not stated), the service being conducted by Rev. William Heakes, assisted by Rev. P. Reynolds.
