Eljein was not a man who let grass grow under his feet. He worked at Brillion Iron Works, Streckert Elevator and the Collins Foundry before he and Darlene started dairy farming on the home farm where he lived the rest of his life. As if farming did not keep him busy enough, during the winters he plowed snow for the Town of Rockland . He also made sure to make it to all of his children and grandchildren sports events no matter where or when. Retirement was not really in his vocabulary, so when his son took over the farm, he went to work for CP Feeds and still helped on the family farm, driving those John Deere tractors. He also took time to watch the Packers and Brewers play. In the last few months he worked at the Reedsville Equity - he loved those cows!
He supported both the church and community over the years by holding several church council positions along with being the town supervisor for more than 34 years.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Darlene, their children: Brian (Jodi) Haese, Brenda (Richard) Voight both of Brillion, Beverly (Don) Master, Brigette (Mark) Master both of Minnesota and Brad Haese of Chilton. Ten grandchildren: Joshua, Jordan, Bethany Haese; Stefanie and Dylan Voight; Jessie, Amy, Chase and Olivia Master and Trevor Cavanaugh. Three step-grandchildren: Craig (Lori) Voight, Kevin (Kate) Voight, Kelly (Jason) Coenen. One great-grandson, Peter and five step great-grandchildren: Alexis, Allie, Mason, Owen and Alaina . Two brothers and one sister-in-law: Lenroy (Verlene) Haese and Delwood Haese of Brillion. Two sister-in-laws: Diane(Jerome) Lau and Sandy (Richard) Reindl. Many other nieces, nephews, family and friends survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Glenver and in-laws William and Dorothy Habermann.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church at 2501 Collins Road, Chilton. Funeral service will follow at NOON. The Rev. Ross Henzi will officiate. Entombment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
