TO SAVE HIS LIFE
Frank H. Weyant Dies in
Cortland from Blood Pois-
oning in His Leg
Cortland, July 10 - Frank H. Weyant died at the Cortland hospital Sunday morning after a short illness. Early in May he suffered from a slight injury to a toe on his right foot. He had long been diabetic and the condition of his blood was such that the injury was slow to mend. The toe became infected and gangrene developed. He was taken to the hospital June 26 in a serious condition. It was found that the poison had worked up into his leg and that the only possible hope for his life was an amputation of the leg. The blood sugar was reduced by use of insulin and the leg was amputated between the knee and hip. He rallied from the operation but his physical condition was such that he failed gradually. Mr. Weyant was born in Lansing 62 years ago. He had conducted a restaurant in this city for the last 20 years. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Reese F. and DeVerne Weyant both of this city, a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Sutphen of Cortland, three sisters, Mrs. B.C. Winchell, Mrs. Clayton Mudge and Mrs. Jennie Stilson of Cortland and three brothers, Benjamin Weyant of Dryden, William Weyant of Venice Center and Fred Weyant of Kings Ferry. The funeral was held this afternoon.
