Shotsey was a Chihuahua. She belonged to our neighbors next door. They had given her away, but took her back because she was being abused. They could not have three dogs so they asked my husband and kids if they wanted her.
I remember Shotsey from when they would be walking her down the sidewalk. Click Clack, Click Clack.

We had already had several dogs while our kids were little, including "Sug", Tye, Little Tye, Trouble, which we no longer had.

We had just moved into a new home and I was not in a hurry to have a dog. One day as I came home from work Shotsey was tied to the front porch. I asked "What is she doing here?" Well they told me the story, and told me they told the neighbors we would take her. "Well she is not going in the house" I told them. So they put her in a dog house. She cried and cried for two nights. "Well she can come in the house, but only in the basement". That probably lasted a week or so. "She is not going to get on my furniture." Famous last words. It was not long before she had wormed her way into my heart and she was allowed anywhere.

In 1977 I had Ovarian Cancer and was in the hospital for 10 days. Shotsey had been with us when I went to the doctor.
She was waiting patiently for me when I returned home. And every time we would drive by the doctors or Hospital she would cry and get upset.

It got to be a tradition when I returned from work she would be waiting on the arm of the love seat waiting for me to come home. She was a sweetie.

She loved Beggin strips and would beg for them. My daughter loved to dress her up.

When I divorced my husband, she stayed with him. I could not have pets where I moved to. A year after the divorce she died and she was buried in the back yard of the home where we had lived.

REST IN PEACE SHOTSEY GIRL

A special Thank you to Diana McDevitt Eyler for sponsoring our sweet Shotsey's memorial.
