Robert was born June 16, 1949 in Pipestone, Minnesota, to Robert Henry and Florence Marie (Thomas) TenCate. He grew up and attended school in Minnesota. Robert was a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Army ( 101st Air Borne Division) and National Guard.
When he was discharged from the Army, Robert moved from Ft. Hood,Texas to Albany, Texas in 1973. Married Bonnie Alexander on September 17, 1974 in Albany. Before retiring from 15 years at Walmart, Robert worked as rig hand for Owen Scott, Holson Well Service, and Snyder Drilling in Albany. He was a member of the Moran American Legion and the First Assembly of God Church.

A few of his favorites in life were; Blueberry Pie,"Yankee Potato Salad" (what he called my potato salad), BBQ Brisket, and drinking a Hamm's or Grain Belt Beer (when he was in Minnesota). Liked to play games on his computer, fishing, and conversing on his ham radio. Recently learned were Bob's goodbye expression, "Waving four fingers and a thumb at ya" came from. Loved his grandchildren, family gatherings, and talking to everybody.

He acquired his nickname, "Stump" in Texas. Robert was short in stature, but had a heart the size of Texas.

Robert is survived by his wife, Bonnie TenCate, and children; Steven (Delisa) TenCate , Jeannie TenCate , Michelle (Steve) Taggart, and Robyn (Robert) Bell. Siblings; Randall TenCate and wife Franci, Rhonda (Robert)Spencer, Aurora (David) Ankrum, Jana (Len) Roschen, and Renata Norgaard. Also, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Bobbie Jo Ingle and her unborn baby, nephew Scott Griffin, brother-in-law David Norgaard, sister Leatha Griffin, and great-nephew Desmond Ankrum.

Blessed be his memory...
Eulogy given my one of Bob's friends....

"I lost a good friend today...one I admired and loved...
The world lost a person who epitomizes the definition of NICE and KIND.
Stump TenCate was a humble man, from a humble background, who embraced the greater good of mankind everyday of his life.
Never had I heard Stump say a disparaging word about another human being and never have I heard a disparaging word about him.
I wish I was so lucky.
No matter the circumstance or obstacle that life put in front of Stump, he was always happy to see you, inquired about your family, wished you the best, and made a person feel like they were the center of the universe.
The world could use a lot more Stump TenCate's.
I can only imagine how Jesus received people during his short time on earth, but the image I have is the same as that which I remember every time I met Stump.
No doubt, Jesus was well entrenched in Stump's heart!
I wish my heart was more like Stump's...
My only solace in times such as these is.....to look to the children of my fallen friend....
There I see the same attributes....
Bonnie and Stump instilled those wonderful attributes in their children....I am grateful and world will be a better place.
Keep Bonnie, her kids, and family in your prayers...
Let's just visualize Stump as the head greeter at the Pearly Gates of Heaven!
I can't wait to see him again.
Peace! " ( By Mark Parsons)
