William "Gene" Eugene Lee, 79, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah. He was born January 11, 1935 in Glennville to Edger and Martha Branch Lee and lived here most of his life. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a Captain after 22 years of service . He served several tours overseas to include one tour in Vietnam. He was a farmer and lay minister for Rogers State Prison Ministry. He was a member and deacon of Northside Baptist Church and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include: Wife: Sara Lee of Glennville Children: Sandy & Jeff Adams of Evans, Georgia Jeanie & Terry Porter of Glennville, Georgia William E. "Bill" Lee (Debbie) of Hinesville, Georgia Patty & Bruce Law of Statesboro, Georgia Brother: Herman Lee (Dianne) of Pooler, Georgia Sister: Brenda Bargeron of Lemon Springs, NC 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 pm, Friday, July 25, 2014 at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Oscar Rowe, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery with full Military Honors. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state at 2:30 pm prior the service.
