Mattie Elizabeth Ward, 79, of Salina, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in Salina. She was born on August 31, 1934 in Westville, Oklahoma; the daughter of Albert Lesley and Susan (Black) Anderson. She married her love, John William Ward, on July 13, 1948. She worked as a homemaker and together they raised 11 children. Mattie enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and flowers. She also had a talent for painting and enjoyed that very much. Most of all, Mattie loved her family, she cherished each moment she had with them. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services for Mattie will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2014 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harry Adams officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014 in the Shipman's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Ross - Mayes Cemetery with Chuck Ward, Matt Ward, John Goertz, Billy Cunningham, Mathew Hadley and Thomas Hadley serving as casket bearers. Mattie is survived by her husband, John William Ward of the home, 5 sons, James, Kenny, Lloyd, Clifford and Wilbur; 6 daughters, Shirley, Betty, Mary, Tina, Jamie, and Shonda; 1 brother; 4 sisters; 42 grandchildren and 71 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Susan Anderson.
