Mrs. H D Foote Dies While Away On Visit
Funeral of Prominent Columbian Held Friday Afternoon at Family Residence.
All of Columbus mourns the death of Sue Walker Foote, the wife of the late H. D. Foote whose death occurred on Wednesday night at the home of Mrs. Jack Alderidge at Wilmont. Mrs. Foote had been visiting in the home of her daughter for about two weeks when the end came, caused by acute indigestion. She had suffered from acute indigestion several times before but on the day previous to her death had felt very well, and retired about 11 o’clock p.m. She awakened at 2 o’clock with a feeling of suffocation and soon her life passed out.
She was a consistent member of the Methodist church. And was delighted to do what she could for the up building of Christ’s cause. She represented the true type of Southern women, hospitable and loving, and filled the position of wife and mother with a charm and dignity to be envied.
Left to mourn for their mother are four sons, Messrs. Will Foote, of Tylertown, George Foote of Gulfport, Henry Foote of Hattiesburg, and Drew Foote, of this city, and three daughters, Mesdames Sid Cox and Ben Allen, of this city, and Mrs. Jack Aldridge, of Wilmot.
The funeral was held from home on the highlands Friday afternoon at four o’clock conducted by W. L. Duren and remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband, whose spirit had proceeded her home several years.
The pall bearers were: Messres. Ledyard Vaughn, Tom Harris, A. H. Pegues, Brooks McGowan, T. J. Locke Jr., and Dr. W. W. Westmoreland.
