Hubert J. Bauman, 43, of Kellnersville, died early Wednesday morning at his home of an illness incurred while he was in military service. Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville, with the Rev. Alfred Pritzl, an uncle, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery where Veterans of Foreign War Post No. 6179 of Cato will conduct graveside rites.
He was born July 9, 1919 in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the Frank and the late Sophia Pritzl Bauman. He was educated in schools in Whitelaw and entered the armed service in April of 1941 and was discharged in December of 1944. He served with Company L. 127th Infantry, in the Asiatic Theater and was engaged in the New Guinea campaign. He married Agnes Weber June 20, 1945 at Kellnersville. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of his church, the Cato VFW post and the Manitowoc American Legion Post No. 88.
Among survivors are his wife, two sons, Kenneth and James and a daughter, Jeanne, at home; father, Frank of Manitowoc; five brothers, Joseph of King, Wis., Frank and George of Milwaukee; Anton of Whitelaw and Norbert of Branch; and three sisters, Mrs. Harry Stark of Milwaukee; Mrs. Quirrin Brey of Rt. 1, Whitelaw, and Mrs. Russell Otto of Rt. 1, Cato.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. by the Holy Name Society, at 8 p.m. by the parish with memorial services by the Cato VFW post at 9 p.m.
