DUNCAN, Elba Cherbonneaux , 92, widow of retired Army Colonel Carl O. Duncan, passed away peacefully July 22, 2014, in Fairfax, VA. Elba was born and spent her early years in St. Petersburg. At age five, she was chosen to be Florida's representative to meet and invite President Calvin Coolidge to spend the winter in Florida. She and her sisters broadcast a variety show over radio station WSUN and were active in community children's events. She was a graduate of St. Petersburg High School and St. Petersburg Junior College. Elba was a world traveler, art connoisseur, business owner and an avid collector of antique children's books. In her later years, she was a member of the Red Hat Society and immersed herself in reading. Elba is survived by her children, James, Jerry, and Carol Boland; her brother, Max Cherbonneaux of Ruskin; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Audubon Society or to your local library. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
