Sarah is the daughter of Elisha Hunter & Margaret Stute Hunter. Before 1785 she married Henry Crawford Tucker, RS, in Chatham Co., NC. After Henry's death Sarah lived with their son, Thomas Tucker(1840 census).

The children of Sarah and Henry are listed on Henry's memorial page.

Additional information on Sarah and Henry Crawford Tucker can be found in Pioneers of Wiregrass GA (Vol. 1, p. 283-284; Vol. 4, p. 317) and The Descendant of William Tucker of Throwleigh, Devon by Robert Dennard Tucker.

*I received this from another researcher:

Huxford Genealogy Society Magazine [March 1997, p. 65] & Pioneers of Wiregrass GA; Vol. XI, p. 499:

"The Virginia Tax records for Southampton Co., VA of 1782, and the deed to John Wilkenson confirm him [Henry Crawford Tucker] as a Virginia resident and not NC, where the erroneous Elisha was purported to have been born. Sons, Davis and Henry C. Tucker, Jr., state in the 1880 GA Census (Echols and Counties respectively) that their father was born in Virginia. The state historical marker in front of Bethel Church in Brooks (formerly Lowndes County), as well as the original church minutes, clearly includes Henry C. Tucker and his wife Sarah as founding members in 1826.

Robert Dennard Tucker [in his book] explains in three pages the proof that Henry Crawford Tucker, RS, and Sarah Hunter had the following children:

John b. 1785
Nancy b. 1796 d. after 1850
Davis D. b. 1796 d. after 1880
Barbara b. 1800
Richard Murphy b. 3/18/1801 d. 10/6/1874
Thomas b. 1803 d. after 1860 census
Elisah b. 3/19/1808 d. 5/28/1880
Elijah b. 1809 d. 1858

The father of the about mentioned children was Henry Crawford Tucker, R.S., born 2/23/1752 and died after 1832, who married Sarah Hunter, daughter of Margaret and Elisha Hunter of Chatham Co., NC. Sarah died in 1847.

Anyone interested in this line of this Tucker family should have the correct information. Unfortunately, the DAR has approved incorrect information on the wife of Henry Crawford Tucker."
