Richard John Zimmerman, 79, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings.
He was born March 14, 1924, to Benjamin and Grace (Pickart) Zimmerman in Winona.
Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in the European Theater during World War II.
On March 6, 1954, he married Shirley Tropple. They made their home in Billings, where they raised six children.
Richard founded and operated Zimmerman Studio, retiring in 1992. He loved boating with his family in the Big Horn Canyon.
Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Robin (Tom) Donnelly, Ron (Ashley) Zimmerman, Ronnalynn Wiser, Randy (Beth) Zimmerman, and Rayne (John) Martin; a sister, Norma Lanz; two daughters from a previous marriage, Terry Cords and Susie Fleming; 17 grandchildren, Benjamin, Bryan, Danniele, Marie, David, Kayla, Brandon, Bailey, Breanna, Hilary, Hannah, Heidi, Heather, Scott, Jason, Sammy and Alice; and seven great-grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and a grandson.
Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at First Presbyterian Church.
