Betty Jean (Anderson) Garrett Pack of Lancaster, SC, and Spartanburg, SC, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at her home.

Born September 2, 1926, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Jeanette Catherine (Wofford) Anderson and Theodore McKinley "Mack" Anderson, Sr.

Mrs. Pack was twice married, first to the late Rev. Robert M. Garrett, Sr. and then to the late Nathan Pack.

A graduate of Spartanburg High School, she attended Anderson College, Converse College of Music, the University of South Carolina Spartanburg, and retired from Risdon Corporation where she served as Administrative Assistant and Personnel Administrator. She was also retired from Galloway Promotion as Marketing Associate.

Betty was a faithful Christian, serving churches in North and South Carolina. She was a woman who cared little for worldly possessions. God came first in her life, followed by family and friends. The Lord accomplished His work through her being active for many years as organist and pianist on the church fields where she was a member and lived. She taught organ and piano in the various church fields, served as WMU president, Girl's Auxiliary Director, President of Associational Women's Missionary Union, and Clerk of the Chesterfield Baptist Associational Women's Missionary Union and clerk of Chesterfield Baptist Association.

She will be remembered, and her spirit and legacy kept alive, as the sweet talented teacher who loved, ministered and mentored so many children in their formative years through piano and organ lessons and with the many whom she had contact with throughout her life, also for the Mission Friends and other organizations of the Baptist Churches where she lived and served as a member. Her strength came from her faith in Jesus Christ and love for family and friends. One of her greatest strengths was her ability to pray for and with others, believing in the power of prayer. She taught and participated in Bible Studies throughout her life.

A devoted and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, she lived a life of service to others and was an example of the embodiments of Christian ideals and unconditional love.

In 2006, Betty moved to Lancaster, SC, to be near her son Robert M. Garrett, Jr. and his wife Shirley, and in keeping with her determination to be of service volunteered at Springs Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Pack is survived by one son, Robert M. (Bob) Garrett, Jr. and his wife Shirley of Lancaster, SC; one sister, Elaine Hunt and her husband Bill of Sapphire Valley, NC; one brother, Theodore McKinley "Mac" Anderson, Jr. of Charleston, SC; one son-in-law, Michael Moss and his wife Myrtle of Gaffney, SC; four granddaughters, Amanda Garrett Davis and her husband Mike of Lincolnton, NC, Amy Garrett Lillis and her husband Chris of Fredericksburg, VA, Angela Garrett Ferriell and her husband Chris of Columbia, SC, and Sonya Garrett Kirby and her husband Todd of Hudson, NC; step-granddaughter, Donna McKinnon and her husband Dick of Lancaster, SC; two grandsons, Charles Edward "Ched" Garrett of Inman, SC and Christopher Moss of Ocala, FL; three stepdaughters; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
