Ann Harling Quattlebaum Blanton, 83, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Dr. John William Blanton, Jr., died Thursday, July 24, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Mrs. Blanton was born April 10, 1931, in Charleston, SC, a daughter of the late James Harling Quattlebaum and the late Edna Rush Quattlebaum.
She graduated from the Medical College of South Carolina School of Nursing in 1952. She practiced nursing with her husband in their office of general practice in Chesnee, South Carolina.
She was very active in the in Girl's Auxiliary (GAs) at First Baptist Church in Chesnee and Rutledge Avenue Baptist Church in Charleston. She enjoyed singing in the church choirs at these churches and at Fort Johnson Baptist Church on James Island, South Carolina.
Mrs. Blanton had a great love for her family. She was a loving mother of two daughters and a son, Odessa (Dessie) Blanton Ussery and her husband, Bill, of Mount Pleasant, John Blanton and his wife, Wanda, of Lavonia, Georgia, and Willa Blanton Yost of Simpsonville, SC. She was a grandmother of seven, Jillian Ussery, Cameron Yost, Zachary Yost, Suzanne Ussery, William Ussery, and Christopher and Scott Bruce.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2014, in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2014, in Fort Johnson Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
