Roberta E. Blumenthal (1939 - 2014)

ALLEGANY - Roberta E. Blumenthal passed away Friday (July 18, 2014) at Olean General Hospital after a long illness.

Born on July 9, 1939, in Canton, Ohio, she was a daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth Offstein Beyer. On Sept. 11, 1960, in Canton, she married Eric S. Blumenthal, who predeceased her June 18, 2005.

Mrs. Blumenthal was a member of the B'Nai Israel Temple in Olean and the Temple Sisterhood. She was also a member of Hadassah. She volunteered at Olean General Hospital as an auxiliary member and worked for years at a polling location on election day.

Even while participating in these activities, family always remained her most important priority.

Surviving are three children, Andrea (John) Fidurko of Olean, Marcy Blumenthal of Allegany and Neal (Sara) Blumenthal of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother Howard (Rena) Beyer of Dayton; and several nieces and nephews.

Private burial services were held Sunday, July 20, 2014, at B'Nai Israel Cemetery in Olean.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., East Syracuse, NY 13057.
