Son of Robert J Cutts and Margaret Robertson.

His mother died nine days after his birth. His father married Elizabeth Hines. But his father died four years and four days after his mother, Margaret. Charlie was four years old and an orphan. His stepmother, Lizzie re-married.

Fortunately for Charlie, he was taken in and raised by his mother's siblings.

His first marriage was to Mary Claire O'Brien on April 30, 1910 in Harris County, Texas. They had two children: Lena Mae Cutts and Charles Alexander Cutts Jr. Charles Jr died at 7 months and is buried with his mother. Lena Mae married John David Stinson.

After Mary's death, he married Pearl McVickers (1898-1990) on July 20, 1918 in Tom Greene County, Texas.

He was a self-employed public accountant.
