Ray Gene was a son of Raymond E. Black and Freeda McClure Black, and was the operator of Black's General Merchandise at Myra, WV. Surviving at the time of his death, in addition to his father, were his wife, Dorothy Shanholtz Black; 1 son, Alan C. Black of North Carolina; one daughter, Myra S. Black Clay (since married an Elkins); one granddaughter, Nikki Clay, 6 brothers, James, Dwight, Ralph, Melvin, Billy and Michael Freer; and one sister, Carolyn Black Bates (since married a Miller).
