Funeral Services for Mrs. Agatha P. Butler Norris of Brown Store, Virginia were held Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 12 Noon at First Baptist Church with Dr. John S. Fountaine, Pastor, Officiating.
Our beloved Agatha P Butler Norris, affectionately known as "Luck," was born August 26, 1924 to the late Asbury and Grace Lewis Butler, in Brown Store, Virginia.
She attended public schools of Lancaster County, Virginia.
Being reared in a Christian Home, she accepted Christ and joined the First Baptist Church at an early age. During the years that followed, she attended church faithfully and was a member of the Progressive Club and the Missionary Ministry until her health prevented her from doing so.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late James R. Norris on August 11, 1941. This union was blessed with one daughter, Patricia N. Keyser, who preceded her in death and a foster son, Charles M. Butler.
Agatha, "Aunt Luck" as she was called, was a devoted Christian wife, mother, neighbor, friend, and home maker, who took great pride in her church family, and community. She reared several children in the community.
During the early hours of Sunday, March 23, 2008, "Easter Morning" Agatha began her new rising, she entered eternal rest at the Lancashire Convalescent Rehabilitation Center. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her devoted son, Milton Butler (Shirley), devoted granddaughter, Patti "Tudy", grandson, Vaughan (Tom); great granddaughters, LaKeita Sharpe, and Kristin Keyser; great great grandsons, Kendrick and Jamari; two sisters: Martha Montague of Kilmarnock, Virginia; and Grace Rochelle of Lancaster, Virginia; two foster sisters, Laura and Bernice Williams; a great sister-in-law, Margaret Reed of Graysonville, Maryland; devoted caretakers, whom she loved and they loved her: Ada Estridge, Gloria Harcum, Tonya Newton, Paula Jones, Dana Bryant, and Pam Weldon; a devoted friend, Rebecca Byrd Haynie and the late Mary Hinton; Otha Butler and Rose Walker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend.
Interment services were held at the Morning Star Batpist Church in Heathsville, Virginia. Her nieces and friends served as floral bearers. Her pall bearer were: Vaughan Keyser, Kevin Rochelle, Edward Cockrell and Carroll Smith.
