Irene Allman was born on April 1, 1909, in Brownstown, Indiana. She was the youngest daughter of Philip and Katherine “Katie” Hagen Allman.

In the 1920 Federal census, Irene was living in Brownstown with her parents, Philip aged 74; mother Katie aged 44; and sisters Tweedie, aged 16; and Myrtle M aged 10.

According to records, Irene Allman and Wayne Lynch were married on December 6, 1923, possibly in Jackson County, Indiana. Irene listed her date of birth as February 2, 1908.

Their son Delbert Eugene Lynch was born on April 4, 1925, in Brownstown, according to his birth certificate.

Research in the Brownstown Banner indicated that Irene Lynch filed for divorce in 1926 (separated September 21, 1925), which was ultimately dismissed. Irene was granted a divorce about April 2, 1930, granted custody of their son and child support of $3.00 per week. The 1930 Federal census showed Irene Lynch living with a roommate in Seymour, Indiana, and was employed. Her son Delbert was staying with her parents. Wayne Lynch may have been living in Marion County, Indiana.

In the 1940 Federal census, Irene, aged 31, and her son Delbert Lynch aged 15 were residing in Evansville, Indiana. Irene had married Eugene Knowles, aged 52. He was a foreman in private industry. Reviews in Evansville city directories listed Eugene and Irene Knowles lived at different addresses from 1936 – 1943. It isn’t quite clear yet whether Eugene Knowles, memorial 119529213 was her second husband.

From 1944 – 1953, James C and Irene Parks were listed at various addresses in Evansville city directories. Starting in 1948, Irene’s son Delbert Lynch also resided in Evansville and was listed at the same addresses as Irene at times. He served in the U.S. Navy from October 20, 1942 – October 12, 1951.

Irene Parks died on February 7, 1954. According to the City of Evansville Cemeteries, she died of rheumatic heart disease. Survivors included her husband J.C. Parks; son Delbert Lynch; a minor son with husband James; brother Mort Allman of Brownstown; and sisters Mrs. Howard Eaton (Acton); and Mrs. Dan Kenworthy (Kinworthy), both of Brownstown, as well as a number of nephews and nieces. From an obituary published in the Evansville Courier and Press, Irene was also survived by brothers William Allman of Columbus; Ezra and Phillip Allman of Acme; and another sister Mrs. Josephine Fleetwood of Seymour. Services were held at the Johann Memorial Temple on February 10, 1954 at 1:30 p.m. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.
