Grant William Backus, 16, of Hewett, WV was born November 2, 1997 and passed away July 27, 2014.

He was a student at Scott High School and was a member of Spencer United Methodist Chapel of Hewett.

He is survived by his mother, Joni and Shannon Hager of Hewett; his father, Joseph Backus and Elizabeth of Hewett; paternal grandparents, Mike and Mary Backus of Hewett; paternal grandfather, Lancil and Donna Scott of Huttonsville, WV; maternal grandparents, the Rev. Roger and Diana McCauley of Hewett; sisters, Jenna Backus of Hewett, Leah Backus of Hewett; step-sister, Paige Booth of Hewett; step-brother, Hunter Booth of Hewett, Bailey Hager of Elkview and Shannon Hager of Elkview; and special friend, Ronnie Ball of Hewett.

In honor of Grant the family requests that friends and family wear camo.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Edsel Aleshire and Harold Ray Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home
