SMITH - Of 11 Beltzhoover Ave., 18th Ward, on Friday, Dec. 17, 1943 at 12 noon, Frances Beecher Smith in her 92nd year, mother of Mrs. Martha Alberts and Frank A. Beecher.
Also survived by two grandchilden, Mrs. Viola Hallam and Mrs. Mabel James, and four great-grandchildren.
Friends received at the funeral home of John D. Schach Sons, 425 Brownsville Rd., Mt. Oliver. Services on Monday at 2 p.m. Friends invited.

Frances Jenett Owston Beecher Smith was the first registered birth in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania during the short-lived state mandated vital records trial from 1852-1854.
She was born in Allegheny City's Fourth Ward to John Gillon Owston and Martha Newton French.
Following her family's return from Michigan in 1868, she married Harvey Beecher circa 1868-1870.
She married Charles W. Smith in 1909 and she is listed as a widow in the 1920 census.
She died of organic heart disease.
Cemetery records list her as being buried in South Side Cemetery on December 18, 1943; however, the interment occurred on December 20.
