Almarine "Marie" Savant Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Almarine "Marie" Savant, age 61, the former Almarine Delma Ashworth, who passed away Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 10:36 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Ms. Savant was a native of Oakdale and was a resident of Lafayette. She had been employed with Family Dollar Store for four years and also Circle K. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She will be missed dearly by the ones who loved her.
Survivors include three sons, Brian Savant and his wife, Francine, of San Diego, CA, Kevin Savant and his wife, Karen, of Carencro, and Dirk Savant and his wife, Marika, of Lafayette; one daughter, Tammy Savant and her financé, Chris Encalarde; nine grandchildren, Casey Savant, Seth Hack, Austin Hack, Derrek Savant, Jade Boudreaux, Cory Boudreaux, Brianna Savant, Brandon Savant, Aubry Savant, and one on the way; one great grandchild, Presly Stelly; five brothers, Henry Ashworth, Jr. and his wife, Robin, of Waverly, VA, Frank A. Ashworth of Oakdale, Elbert J. Ashworth and his wife, Ella, of Disputanta, VA, Leroy Larry Ashworth of Morse, and Hylder Gene Ashworth and his wife, Belinda Gayle, of Oakdale; and one sister, Edna Lou Ashworth Cain of Pineville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Ashworth and the former Sarah Doyle, both natives of Oakdale; one sister, Jenny Ashworth; and one brother, Albert Ashworth.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Monday and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Dirk Savant, 113 Greenhaven Drive, Lafayette, LA 70508.
