George enjoyed reading, especially about aviation, the Civil War and World War II. He also enjoyed going to sporting events, visiting his children and grandchildren, cooking and taking care of animals. He was a member of St. Helena Cathedral and belonged to the Jaycees. He was very devoted to the academic and athletic missions of Carroll College.
George is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Richard, Warren and Harvey.
He is survived by his son Larry (Jody, Sean) of Buffalo, N.Y., Mike (Barb, Whitney) of Austin, Texas; daughter Colleen (John, Andrew, Jordan, Katherine) Johnson of LaCenter, Wash.; brother Ray of Helena and Apple Valley, Calif.); sisters, Micky Watkins of Beaverton, Ore., Annette McDonald of Mt. Angel, Ore., five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 12, at the Cathedral of St. Helena. Memorials in George's name are suggested to the American Cancer Society; ASPCA or to the Carroll College Athletic Department.
