OBITUARY:
Cadiz Record 1947

Death came to Elbert Jesse Hunter at the age of 89, last Friday Morning, October 24, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charlie Warren, of East Cadiz, following an illness of several years caused by old age and complications.

Mr. Hunter was born in this city January 13, 1858 to James T. and Henrietta Greenwood Hunter and spent his entire life here and in the County with the exception of a few months spent in Henry County after he was married. He was following the occupation of farming most of his life.

More than a half century ago the deceased was united in marriage to Susan Candler who preceded him in death May 30, 1944. There were ten children born to this union of whom six survive. They are: Mrs. L.O. Boren, Mrs. Tom Curry and Mrs. Charlie Warren of this city, Joe Hunter and Jake Hunter of the County and Mrs. Jessie Darnall of Louisville. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, two sister, Mrs. Willie Moore who resides just south of town and Mrs. Banner Moore, of Linton.

Although Mr. Hunter was never united with any Church he was a firm believer in the Primitive Baptist Church.

Funeral services were conducted at the Hunter Cemetery in the southern part of Trigg County near his farm Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with Jack McKinney officiating. A.K. Goodwin local undertaker, had charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were six grandsons, Troy, H.C. and Ray Hunter, Bobby Cutty and Dennie Darnall and Joe Darnall.

Girls who had charge of the flowers were his grandaughters, Misses Dalcie Boren, Charlene Hunter and Mary Edna Darnall.
