Youngest daughter of Michael and Mary Hennessey, Eliza was christened on 01 Aug 1836 at Fatehgarh, (Mayah Pradesh), where her father was stationed. A civilian attached to Indian Civil Service, Michael Hennessey died at Allahabad at the age of 44 of Cholera. He left a widow and seven children, most of whom appear to have remained in India.

Eliza became the first wife of Dr. Richard T. Abbott on 23 March 1861 at the Residency in Rewa (Madhya Pradesh).

Eliza died at neighboring Nagod on the first day of 1863 and was buried there the following day.
