Clarence J. Douglas (also known as Lennie Douglas) was born in Pontiac, Michigan. He was the son of Edward Douglas and Marie Montgomery. He married Mae Palmer on Dec. 5, 1905 in Essex Co., Ontario, Canada. Together they had one child, Clara Maude Douglas.

Lennie was only 24 years old when he died. Family tradition says that he died of a brain fever (quote: "he was too smart to live"). He died as a patient of the Eastern Michigan Asylum in Pontiac.

At one time he was worked on a ceiling painting in a church in Pontiac.
