Dex was a minister of the United Methodist Church serving for the most part in So California. He was the husband of Rosemary Dexter, father of 5 children. His last ministry was in Atascadero, CA where he lived until his death. His request was to be cremated and to have his ashes spread below the Vermillion Cliffs in the Sierra Nevada. Unfortunately, his family had aged by the time of his death and there were no hikers to take his ashes there. Instead his family had a scattering ceramony outside of Keystone, CO in a meadow off in Loveland Pass off hwy 6.
