He later married Molly Whitlock on January 16 1871. Of this union six children were born, William Adams, Nona Belle Baxter, Irene Mae Baxter,John Armour, Robert James and Bessie Bertha Grotts.
He was a fruit farmer in the Mt. Zion area where he and his wife were members of the Baptist church.
He and Molly had 13 grandchildren and she preceded him in death.
He later married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Moore in 1926.
