Schuette, Lorraine L.

Lorraine L. Schuette, age 89, of 1635 S. 21st Street, Manitowoc, died Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Aurora Medical Center, Manitowoc County.

Lorraine was born on March 6, 1925 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Walter William & Cecelia (Gretz) Schuette. She was a graduate Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1943 and Northwestern University, Class of 1947. She was employed at Schuette Brothers Co. from 1949 until 1992. She and her brother, August, managed the family-owned department store until the time of her retirement. Lorraine volunteered with many local organizations, including the Manitowoc Business and Professional Women, the Manitowoc Symphony League, and the Friends of the Manitowoc Library. She traveled around the world and enjoyed theater and opera wherever she went. Lorraine treasured time spent with her family and her lifelong friends, including her PEO sisters. She was a Packers stock owner and long time season ticket holder.

Survivors include one nephew: James August Schuette, New York City, N.Y.; three nieces: Anne Schuette (Dan Hornung), Manitowoc, Barbara (Rasti) Farhad, Fox Point, Sarah (Bill) Langhout, Woodbury, MN.; and a sister-in-law: Shirley Schuette, Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother: August; and her sister-in-law: Phyllis Hammond Schuette. She is also survived by an extended, loving family.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at Blessed Angela Chapel at Felician Village, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Blessed Angela Chapel at Felician Village, Manitowoc, from 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 until 11:15 a.m.
