James was a lifetime Whitley County resident and was a 1974 graduate of Columbia City High School. He also attended Kaplan University and received his Paralegal Certificate. James spent most of his working career as a machinist at United Technologies in Columbia City, Dana Corporation in Syracuse, and Eaton-Clutch in Auburn.
James was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and on August 9, 1986 he married Kathaleen (Clem). He was also a member of Union Township Fire Department and U.A.W. Local #164 in Auburn. His hobbies included riding his Harley, gardening, and being a history buff.
James is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Kathaleen of Columbia City; mother Norma U. Herron of Columbia City; brother David (Deb) Herron of Columbia City; sister Sarah "Sally" (Stan) Smith of Chugiak,AK; four grandchildren Jasmine, Jade, Autumn, and Matthew;special sister-in-law Lourine Pequignot; son-in-law Shawn Kleeberg of Churubusco.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father Paul Herron in 2012, and sisters Mary Herron and Lydia Fisher.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 6, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00am at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Columbia City.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Herron's memory to American Cancer Society or to Donor's Choice.
